How to play Blackjack

Get closer to 21 than the dealer without going over. Number cards count as their number, face cards count as 10 and an ace counts as 1 or 11. Your first two cards add up to 21 only with an ace and a ten-value card, and that is a blackjack, which pays 3 to 2.

• Hit to take another card, Stand to keep your total, Double to double your bet and take exactly one more card, or Split a pair into two hands with a second bet.
• The dealer shows one card and keeps the other face down. The dealer must hit until reaching 17 or more, and stands on every 17, including a soft 17.
• A win pays 1 to 1, a tie gives your bet back, and if you go over 21 you lose at once. A hand is dealt from six freshly shuffled decks every time, so there is nothing to count.
• A hand you leave unfinished is waiting for you when you come back.
